Meet The Team: Welcome Kat!

We did another little quiz thing this week with another new team member, Kat! We’re so happy to have Kat join the LEARNEST team, she brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise that we are sure help us grow and evolve as an orgaisation! Welcome Kat!

What is your name and pronouns?
My name is Kat Kynes (she/her).

Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
I am a Manchester-based content marketer. Over the last 7 years I’ve worked for a number of digital agencies, as well as in a freelance capacity, and have experience in running campaigns for both B2B and B2C clients, ranging from SMEs to global brands. Outside of work I'm a blocker for Arcadia Roller Derby, and enjoy photography and travelling to new places. I'm also passionate about mental health and currently volunteer at the Meadowbrook Unit in Salford.

What is your new role at Learnest?
I will be acting as a digital marketing consultant for Learnest, with the aim of helping the organisation to strengthen their online foundations, and input on their future digital strategies.

What attracted you to come and work with the Learnest team?
As a member of the LGBT+ community, I am drawn to the work Learnest offers to both organisations and individuals. When it comes to the Learnest mission and model, I am reminded of my roller derby league that has created a safe and inclusive space that welcomes and encourages people from all backgrounds, including LGBT+.

What do you hope to achieve while working with Learnest?
This is an exciting time to be joining the Learnest team. I am looking forward to helping Learnest grow their online visibility, and increase awareness of the great work they are doing for the LGBT+ community.

Do you have any advice for anyone looking to work in comms and marketing?
Firstly, get to know your audience. Everything you do in marketing and (external) communications is aimed at a target audience so take the time to exactly who that audience is. For example, what type of content do they consume, and where do they go to consume it? Secondly, don't be afraid to try new things. If you try something new and it fails, embrace the experience and learn from your mistakes.
